DataLoader - Form Header Features

The Form Header on the DataLoader Transaction List and side-by-side review forms allow you to perform the necessary functions for working with the data. These functions include validating the row, posting the row, deferring the row, discarding the row, and recovering a discarded row.

Additionally, when you use the side-by-side process to review individual transactions, the VCR controls provide you a mechanism for navigating through the list of rows during the review process.

Validate

Clicking Validate will allow you to validate the data in the batch or row when you are on the Transaction List or Transaction Detail, respectively. If invalid data is detected, the validation errors will display in the Additional Information pane to the right of the data. If the invalid data is for a column that validates against an Advance tms view, clicking in the field to change the value will display a drop-down list with values that are validated against that tms view. This will allow you to ensure that the data you wish to specify is valid. If you made changes to the source data, they will be saved back to the batch.  A 'Merge' will take place automatically if the Operation is a Modify, and these values will be saved back to the batch (even if there are errors).

Post

Clicking Post will indicate you wish to Post the data in the row to the database. When you click Post, DataLoader will automatically perform the validation process before posting the row.

Defer

Clicking Defer will designate the row as being deferred, which means that the data is not ready to be loaded. This status may be used to indicate that you have chosen to defer the row because you are certain that some of the data may be incorrect, or some data may be missing.

Discard

Clicking Discard will logically, not physically, delete the row from the batch. This status means that you have no intentions of ever reviewing, validating or posting the data in the row. In the case where you know that the data is erroneous or unusable, you may set a row to this status. In the event that you designate a row as 'Discarded', you can always recover the row. To recover the row, select the row that has been discarded, and click Recover.

Recover

Clicking Recover will allow you to make a Discarded row Active so that it can subsequently be Deferred, Validated, Posted, or Discarded. The Recover option will only display if the row you are current on contains a status of Discarded.
