There are two processes by which DataLoader batches can be created. These include creating batches from (1) tables that contain data from an external source, such as Advance Web Community (AWC) or (2) files from an external source, such as a 3rd party address verification application.
To integrate a tab-delimited ASCII text input file data into a batch for review via DataLoader:
Select Go To from the Main Menu or press F5.
In Go To, select 'DataLoader – Batch from Files' (Application ID 44, CBFF) and click Go. An 'Open with ID' value is not required.
Enter a Description for the batch. It is recommended that you provide a Description which easily identifies the batch. This is a text field that can contain any combination of alphanumeric characters. This is a required value.
Select a Source code from the source drop-down list. This field allows you to indicate the origin of the data. Values in this drop-down list are validated against the tms_advloader_batch_source view. This is a required value.
Specify an Alternate ID code from the Alternate ID Type drop-down list. This field allows you to perform the cross-reference between 'original' IDs provided in a batch and the Advance entity.id_number equivalents. If you specify a value in this field, you should make sure that all of the entries in the batch are of the same Alternate ID type. This is the same as the ID type that you put in the first 3 characters of the primary key in the batch_detail row header column if you are creating an input file to load into your Advance database using Alternate IDs. That value, when it exists, is used to create a cross-reference row in the ids_base table.
Click Browse to navigate to the tab-delimited ASCII text input file. The filename will appear in the text box after you locate the input file.
Click Add File in the Form Header.
If you wish to include a second input file as part of the batch repeat steps 6 and 7 as necessary.
If you wish to delete an input file from the batch, highlight the row and select Delete from the Actions menu before the batch is created in step 10.
Click Generate to create the batch and the DataLoader Batch List will appear.
Note: It is very important you add the files in the order in which they should be processed. For example, if you are adding Entities and Addresses for those entities in the same batch, add the Entity file first, then the Address file. If you are adding Prospects and Prospect Tasks, add the Prospect file first, then Prospect Task.
