Crystal Reports

For additional information, please refer to the Advance Web Reporting User Guide.

There are three ways you can use Crystal Reports with Advance Web.

  1. Create your reports using Crystal Reports Server 2008 and reference the reports via a report ID in the Web Reports Maintenance window in the Configuration Utility. Since the processing of these reports occurs on the reporting server, the syntax for the report is not loaded into the Advance database and the Crystal Reports Maintenance window in the Configuration Utility is not used. This technique can be used in tandem with the Crystal Reports 2008 viewer (technique 2).

  2. Create your reports using Crystal Reports 2008 and load the report and report syntax into the Advance database using the Configuration Utility. This technique utilizes the Crystal Report 2008 viewer and all report processing occurs on your Web server where Advance Web is installed. This technique can be used in tandem with the Crystal Reports Server 2008 viewer (technique 1)

  3. Create your reports using Crystal Reports XI, R2 and load the report and report syntax into the Advance database using the Configuration Utility. This technique utilizes the Crystal Report XI, R2 viewer and all report processing occurs on your Web server where Advance Web is installed. This is the technique utilized in previous versions of Advance Web and can not be used with either of the Crystal Reports 2008 options (technique 1 or 2).

Note: Regardless of the technique you use, each institution or organization is responsible for procuring the necessary Crystal Reports licenses. Crystal Reports licenses are not provided with Advance Web.

Note: This help file does not provide instructions on creating a Crystal Report; it only provides information on how to load the report into the Advance database or reference the report ID using the Configuration Utility. Please refer to your Crystal Reports documentation for information on creating Crystal Reports.
