Advanced Lookups allow you to search across Advance subsystems, i.e., Biographic, Gift, Prospect, etc. A query is built by entering criteria into data fields for each parameter on which to search. The final query can have as much, or as little, information as required to provide the desired results.
To perform an Advanced Lookup:
From the Home page, click 'Lookups'.
When the Lookups page displays, select an output type. The default is 'Entity Lookup List,' but you may choose one of several different report types. The 'Change Format' link allows you to select the type of report output you wish to use to print the data relative to the search. For example, electing to keep the default Entity List will cause the system to display the results of the query in the Entity Report List format.
Enter your search parameters by selecting the appropriate forms from the Lookups Page Tree (expanded lists represent entity attributes available in each of the subsystems) and entering appropriate data in the search fields (single values are either chosen from the drop-down lists or entered in the fields) on the displayed "Tab."
To enter a list of values in a criteria field, click the lookup operator from the drop-down list. On most lookup forms, the operator defaults to "=," but you can modify it to select a different operator (e.g., >, <, >=). Enter a value in the Value field. To switch into expert mode and add multiple values for each field, click 'Options' in the Page Tree and select 'Switch Mode'. Click "+" at the beginning of the parameter’s row to add another value to your list. Repeat as necessary. Remember, values will be joined by "OR" by default.
Continue to navigate to the form and additional attributes on the Page Tree to enter all of the criteria and build the Lookup.
Click Search.
When the results display, they will display in the format specified in the 'Results' drop-down list. From the list, if applicable, you may drill-down to further levels of detail.
Note: When selecting an item from the result list, make sure a relationship exists between the type of data you wish to search for and the value in the results list.
Note: If security is set for any values in the result list, those values will not appear in the drop-down list. If no security is set, all values will appear in the list.
